Investment manager J.P. Morgan acquires a stake in global ship manager OSM Thome. Oaktree, on the other hand, withdraws.
Since 2018, funds managed by Oaktree have initially held a stake in OSM Maritime Group and, following the merger with Thome in 2023, in OSM Thome. In future, the shareholder structure will change.
The founders of OSM, Bjørn Tore Larsen, and the Eek Thorstensen family from Thome will remain on board and hold significant shares in Shipmanager. There will be no changes to the management team.
“OSM Thome will now be further expanded together with the new investor,” says Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO of OSM Thome. “We look forward to working with a leader in the global ship management industry,” says Andrian Dacy, Global Head of Transportation at J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close later this year.
OSM Thome provides technical management, crewing and training, among other services. The Norwegian company employs more than 29,000 seafarers and 1,700 employees on land. The fleet under management comprises more than 1,000 ships.
