The French Navy deploys the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the crisis region

Trump considers escorting tankers – Paris and London send warships

Iranian ships are being destroye apparently, France and Great Britain send navy ships… The escalation in the Middle East continues. And Donald Trump is considering escorting tankers.

As part of the attack on Iran, US military units have destroyed 17 Iranian ships. The targets apparently included a submarine, according to reports from Washington. “There is not a single Iranian ship in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz or the Gulf of Oman today,” said Central Command chief Brad Cooper in a video published on X.

Meanwhile, other states are relying on military deterrence. According to media reports, Emanuel Macron’s French government, for example, wants to send the aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” to the Mediterranean. The reason given is the “unstable situation and the uncertainty of the coming days”. In addition, a British airbase on Cyprus was attacked. The aircraft carrier and its squadron and escort frigates are to set sail for the Mediterranean, the President said in an address to the nation. In addition, the French frigate “Languedoc” was to set sail for Cyprus as part of a partnership.

Great Britain has also decided to take action following the attack on Cyprus. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that a warship and helicopters would be sent to the island state to combat drones. On Platform X, Starmer named the “HMS Dragon”, which was selected for an unspecified “defensive mission”. However, the British government once again rejected military involvement in the US mission in Iran.

Meanwhile, the US President is now apparently addressing the issue of closing the Strait of Hormuz to tankers. If necessary, he will organize an escort for ships stuck in the region. “If necessary, the US Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible,” he wrote on his own online service Truth Social.

Iran’s official announcement to close the strait in the Middle East Gulf has already been followed by a threat from the Revolutionary Guards to attack ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Several ships have already been attacked.
