Hoppe Marine joins forces with IT specialist Metis

The Hamburg-based shipbuilding supplier Hoppe Marine is entering into a “strategic cooperation” in the field of on-board data collection with Metis from Greece. This is not the first cooperation in this area for both companies.

In particular, the cooperation is intended to ensure “the seamless integration of Hoppe’s data acquisition systems with Metis’ cloud-based performance management platform”, according to a press release.

The partners aim to expand the use of high-frequency data analytics in ship performance management and provide customers with greater flexibility for real-time monitoring and strategic decision-making.

Metis was founded in 2016 with headquarters in Athens and a branch in Singapore and is part of the Erma First Group. This is not the first partnership with a German player for the Greek company. A cooperation with engine specialist Carl Baguhn was already initiated in 2021. Hoppe Marine specializes in measurement and control technology for maritime applications. By integrating established solutions and brands such as Flume, Maihak, Intering and S-Two, the company now covers the areas of fluid management, motion control and ship performance. In 2022, Hoppe also entered into a partnership with Navtor in the field of big data.

Metis wants to expand its own reach with Hoppe

The agreement between Hoppe and Metis was signed during the SMM trade fair by Panos Theodossopoulos (CEO, Metis) and Hauke Hendricks (Head of Sales, Hoppe Marine) as representatives of their respective companies, but has only now been announced by the Greeks.

“This partnership is fully in line with our telemetry approach and underlines our belief that collaboration is key to driving innovation and transparency across the maritime sector,” said Theodossopoulos. In addition to the in-house technology, a commercial partnership has been formed with Hoppe, whose precise onboard data collection system will enable Metis to extend its reach.
