The shipbuilding company Goltens Worldwide has signed an agreement with HD Hyundai Marine Solution (HMS). The takeover by the South Korean firm is due to be completed at the turn of the year.
Goltens has announced that the transaction is expected to be completed in the latter part of the fourth quarter of 2026 or the early part of the first quarter of 2027. The acquisition is intended to enable the company to grow in the long term, whilst maintaining its independence and customer focus.
The agreement marks an “important step” in Goltens’ long-term development and brings together the company’s global engineering and service expertise with the complementary strengths of HMS. Once the transaction is complete, Goltens is expected to continue operating as an independent service provider.
According to the announcement, Goltens’ global network of service centres and on-site engineering teams will also create “strong synergies” with HMS. This is intended to enable the combined company to serve HMS’s growing aftermarket customer base – including the fleet of vessels and engines manufactured by HD Hyundai – worldwide with faster and more customer-focused support for repairs, maintenance and retrofitting. Until the transaction is finalised, Goltens will continue to operate as usual.
“The planned acquisition offers opportunities to expand technical capabilities, strengthen global service coverage and promote investment in staff, sites and technologies,” Goltens stated. Both companies see significant potential to support customers in meeting the growing demands for maintenance, operational efficiency and decarbonisation in the shipping, energy and industrial sectors.
“This agreement presents an exciting opportunity to build on Goltens’ strengths and expand the range of services we offer our customers,” said Sandeep Seth, CEO of Goltens Worldwide. “Our independence and the trust of our customers are central to our business. We will continue to serve them with the responsiveness, technical expertise and commitment they have come to expect from Goltens. In our collaboration with HMS, we see significant scope for investment, growth and the development of capabilities that will deliver lasting value to our customers.”
