Hamburg-based repair yard broker HSS becomes EOS Shipping

The Hamburg-based ship repair yard broker HSS is being rebranded under the umbrella of its Turkish parent company. The aim is to forge closer ties.

Hamburg Shipping Services , founded in 2023 by Michael Say and Claus-B. Elstermann, has officially been renamed EOS Shipping GmbH. The reason for what the company describes as a “forward-looking change” is that it wishes to reinforce its affiliation with the Turkish EOS Group through its name. “This unified brand identity brings us even closer to our sister and parent companies,” the company said in a statement.

Plans are in place to integrate the company’s services into the EOS network in order to offer “more efficient, innovative and comprehensive logistics and shipping solutions from a single source”. Contact details, contracts and agreements are to remain valid.

Since 2023, the company has been acting as the exclusive representative of the privately-owned EOS Group, with its repair facilities in Tuzla Bay, Turkey’s traditional ship repair centre. The shipyards offer three floating docks ranging in length from 144 m to 224 m for Panamax vessels, as well as slipways for newbuilds. The people behind HSS are no strangers to the industry. Before founding HSS, Michael Say held various management positions in the shipping and ship management sectors. He worked, for example, for the Thomas Schulte shipping company. Also on board is Claus-B. Elstermann, who completed his apprenticeship at a shipping company in Hamburg almost 40 years ago; this was followed by various roles at shipping companies and, finally, a career spanning almost 20 years at Peter Gast Shipping.

“Under the umbrella of the EOS Group, we are ideally positioned to meet the challenges of the modern shipping and logistics world,” the statement reads.
