Bunker trading company Glander International Bunkering has launched a tool to help users calculate key data for compliance with the FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
The FuelEU Maritime Regulation aims to reduce CO₂ emissions in the shipping sector by promoting the use of alternative fuels and imposing penalties for non-compliance. With the new Compliance Calculator, Glander International Bunkering helps users to calculate potential penalties and savings based on voyage type, fuel and quantity.
Compliance Calculator for merchant vessels over 5,000 GT
The Compliance Calculator is specifically designed for merchant vessels over 5,000 GT and adheres to the stricter guidelines of FuelEU Maritime rather than the IMO. The simplified version supports MGO (Marine Gas Oil) and VLSFO (Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil), while the full version can calculate all fuel types and offers users a more comprehensive insight. In addition, the calculator is designed to adapt to regulatory changes; the next update is planned for 2030.
“As the industry adapts to new regulations, understanding the impact of fuel choice is critical to efficient and responsible operations,” says Frederik Moser, Head of New Fuels. “Our goal is to help shipping companies reduce costs, avoid penalties and make the transition to new fuels smoother and more efficient.”
