Zeppelin Power Systems shows Cat tech at SMM

At SMM 2026, Zeppelin Power Systems will present its latest propulsion, energy and service solutions for the maritime industry. As Caterpillar’s exclusive sales and service partner since 1954, the company will focus on technologies supporting the transition to lower-emission and more efficient vessel operation.

One of the highlights is the (M)Ethanol Upgrade, which enables existing propulsion systems to operate on alternative fuels while maintaining performance and reliability. According to the company, the upgrade allows operators to reduce emissions and prepare for future environmental regulations without replacing the entire system.

Zeppelin Power Systems will also showcase its latest hybrid and battery technologies, including the Cat Marine Battery, developed for maritime applications. The portfolio also includes power upgrades for existing Cat engines, designed to extend service life, improve fuel efficiency and support compliance with current regulations.

Alternative fuels remain another focus of the company’s offering. From methanol to other lower-carbon fuel options, Zeppelin Power Systems aims to provide practical solutions for both short- and long-term decarbonisation strategies.

In addition to its products, the company will present its global service portfolio. This includes digital connectivity for performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, remote support and onsite service. According to Zeppelin Power Systems, these services are designed to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency through its worldwide service network.
