Mathieu Girardin is stepping down as head of DFDS’s Ferry Division in mid-August. Until a successor is appointed, CEO Michael Hansen will take charge of the division.
The manager joined DFDS in October 2022 and has been heading the Ferry Division ever since. According to the company, under his leadership the division’s network was expanded and its organisational structures further developed, amongst other things.
DFDS CEO Michael Hansen will take over the leadership of the Ferry Division on an interim basis. The company says it has already begun the search for a successor.
“I would like to thank Mathieu for his contribution to DFDS. Under his leadership, the Ferry Division has strengthened and expanded its network and further developed its organisational capabilities to position the business for the future. As we enter the next phase of our ongoing transformation, this change in management will open up new perspectives for our strategic direction,” said Hansen.
DFDS’s Ferry Division comprises ferry, port terminal and rail services. The network connects markets in the North Sea, the Mediterranean, the English Channel, the Baltic Sea and the Strait of Gibraltar. In 2025, the division generated revenue of DKK 17 billion (around €2.3 billion).
