The “CF Anja” is the latest combined cargo and passenger vessel built by Damen to operate on the Baltic Sea. For the Lithuanian client, the vessel is the first newbuild in its fleet.
The “CF Anja” is a general cargo vessel of the CF 3850 model, which the Damen Shipyards Group launched five years ago. Since then, over 50 vessels have been ordered.
The latest vessel is destined for Juru Agentura Forsa, based in Lithuania. For Forsa, the delivery marks a milestone: the “CF Anja” is the first newbuild in its fleet of dry cargo vessels. The next step will see the vessel transferred from the shipyard to Lithuania, where it will commence service. Damen stated that it is expected to make a “significant contribution” to the modernisation and further growth of the company.
The vessel features a hull optimised using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), which ensures low drag and thus reduces fuel consumption and emissions. Furthermore, the freighter is designed to accommodate a wide range of additional efficiency-enhancing solutions.
To meet Forsa’s operational requirements, the “CF Anja” has been fitted for operation with HVO biofuel. It is also fitted with a ‘Wake Equalising Duct’ (WED) from Damen; this ensures a uniform flow behind the vessel, thereby significantly reducing noise, vibrations and fuel consumption.
The vessel is also fitted with a 120-kW shore power connection, which enables the use of electricity whilst berthed in port. Furthermore, the “CF Anja” is prepared for the installation of a Ventofoil-type sail.
