Contract of HPA CEO Jens Meier extended

Jens Meier has been Managing Director of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) since 2008. He will now remain so for another five years until 2030.

The Supervisory Board of the Hamburg Port Authority has extended the contract with the 58-year-old for a further five years. Jens Meier has been Managing Director of the HPA for 16 years.

After studying computer science with a supplementary subject in economics, Meier began his professional career at Software Design & Management AG (Ernst & Young Group), where he was responsible for the Hamburg and Hannover branches as a member of the management board from 1997.

In 2000, he became divisional director of Systematics AG (later EDS). Since July 2002, Jens Meier has been Managing Director of tts Holding and, following its sale to the Fiege Group, a member of the Management Board. In April 2008, he moved to the HPA.

At the end of last year, the port manager also took over the office of IAPH President, the International Association of Ports and Harbors.

Despite some criticism, the contract of the experienced port manager has reportedly not been under serious discussion in recent months.
