After more than five years as Regional Marine Chief Executive for Central Europe at Bureau Veritas, Rolf Stiefel is handing over the position to Ramona Zettelmaier.
The experienced Head of Sales & Customer Relations has been with the company for over 13 years and steps into her new role with deep industry knowledge and a clear vision of the challenges ahead.
According to the classification society, Zettelmaier possesses a strong understanding of internal processes and “knows the complex dynamics of maritime transformation inside out.” She plans to consistently build on Bureau Veritas’ strategic focus on sustainability, customer proximity, and digitalization, while bringing fresh momentum – with the goal of further positioning Bureau Veritas as a driving force for a sustainable maritime industry.
“The transformation of our industry has long been underway – and it requires decisive action,” said Zettelmaier. “I look forward to continuing on this path with our team and developing new solutions together with our customers.”
Rolf Stiefel took over the role of Regional Chief Executive in May 2020. During his tenure, the classification society expanded its role as a technical and regulatory partner amid a period of major upheaval in the maritime sector. His leadership was marked by the transition to alternative fuels, growing regulatory complexity, and the digitalization of shipping. Before joining Bureau Veritas, Stiefel held a long-term role at WinGD, where he led the global market launch of the X-DF gas engine as Head of Sales.
“We’ve rethought many things in recent years and implemented them with real substance,” Stiefel said. “I’m proud to have taken this journey with such a highly professional crew. Now is the right time to hand over the – and to embark on an exciting new voyage myself.”
