Brokers Intermodal and Golden Destiny merge

The wave of consolidation among the major shipbrokers continues: Golden Destiny and Intermodal, two well-known Greek names, are joining forces.

Michael Kokkini, founder and CEO of the well-known S&P broker Golden Destiny, is joining the former competitor Intermodal Shipbrokers, Greek sources report. His entire team of brokers and analysts is also moving there.

Golden Destiny, founded in Piraeus in 1994, was one of the most active shipping and brokerage companies in the world. At the age of 78, however, Kokkini is calling it a day, at least as far as self-employment is concerned.

“In Intermodal, we have found a reliable partner with similar values, activities and traditions to our own,” the Golden Destiny patriarch is quoted as saying.

Intermodal, also based in Athens, explained that the combination of “history and expertise” will be continued. The brokerage firm is managed by George Dermatis, the son of company founder Kyriakos Dermatis.
