This is a 40-tonner with four 30-ton cranes. Although the newbuild also sails for Briese’s MPP carrier BBC Chartering, it will not have its abbreviation in its name like the bulkers “BBC Venus” and “BBC Mercury”, which will enter service in 2023.
Additional new additions from this sector are set to join the Briese fleet in 2025: According to the shipping company, two further 40,000-tonne vessels are currently planned.
Briese gets newbuildings in various segments
The Leer-based shipping group has ordered newbuildings in various sub-segments in recent years: New Bangkokmax container ships have joined the fleet, as have Oteco 9,000 shortsea freighters for the Group’s subsidiary Briese Chartering. A number of newbuildings have also been delivered in the larger bulker segment. They come from Chinese shipyards as well as from Japan. Briese is working together with the Norwegian investor Ness, Risan & Partners for the bulker series. In the classic MPP segment, Briese had previously commissioned the “Ukraine” series of newbuildings for F500 vessels.
In another segment in which Briese is active, there may also soon be a newbuilding order: research shipping. The manager responsible, Klaus Küper, recently explained on HANSA PODCAST that the company is working on a potential newbuild and is in talks.
