Borealis Maritime, the group of companies managed by Christoph Toepfer, is further expanding its offshore activities. Kristian Siem is the new partner.
Aurora Offshore, the Borealis spin-off founded in 2021, has a new shareholder in Norwegian shipowner Kristian Siem. At the same time, he is placing nine offshore vessels under the technical management of Aurora Offshore. The magnate had previously parted company with Christen Sveaas, who continues to run the Siem Offshore shipping company under a different name (Sea1 Offshore).
28 offshore vessels in the fleet
The fleet of Aurora Offshore, based in Kristiansand, will grow to 28 vessels as a result of the management deal. This includes two installation vessels, one platform supply vessel, six anchor handling tugs and 19 other units. The combined fleet will employ around 950 seafarers in future.
Christoph Toepfer, founder and CEO of Borealis Maritime, said: “We are delighted to enter into this agreement with Siem Offshore for the management of our respective OSV fleets.” Aurora Offshore’s management team has built a very professional and highly respected OSV management team over the past three years.
Aurora Offshore has steadily expanded its fleet and acquired several vessels, including some owned by Greek tycoon Evangelos Marinakis.
