Stinne Taiger Ivø, Director of Contracts & Support at Bimco, has been appointed the new Deputy Secretary General of the shipping organization.

Ivø joined Bimco in early 2022 to lead the Contracts & Support department. The Contracts & Clauses team develops and provides contracts and clauses to the shipping industry in close cooperation with industry representatives, and the Support & Advice department answers members’ questions about charter parties and other contracts. Before joining the shipping organization, Ivø was head of the claims department at the marine insurer Skuld (Copenhagen), worked at the Danish Shipowners’ Association Danish Shipping and as a lawyer in the shipping/offshore/transport department at the law firm Gorrissen Federspiel. She holds a doctorate in international corporate law and a Master of Laws, both from the University of Copenhagen.

As part of the leadership team, Ivø will represent one of Bimco’s key business areas, contracts and clauses, as the shipping industry faces an increasing number of new regulations from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union (EU) on the road to decarbonization. For example, the organization recently presented four new clauses to contractually regulate obligations and costs under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS).

Søren Larsen, Deputy Secretary General and responsible for Bimco’s contract work, will retire in May after 39 years of service. David Loosley will continue to serve as Secretary General and CEO of the organization, while the CEO of the shipping company F. Laeisz, Nikolaus H. Schües, has headed Bimco as President since May 2023.
