For the first time, WISTA Germany has appointed ambassadors. In a formal ceremony held at Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG in Hamburg, Jens Michael Priess and Alexander Geisler were named the organisation’s first official ambassadors.
With this honour, WISTA Germany recognises men who have shown exceptional commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the advancement of women in the maritime industry. The new role of WISTA Ambassadors was initiated by the Diversity Project Group. The aim is to highlight dedicated supporters of WISTA’s goals and to engage men as active advocates for gender equality in the shipping industry.
Jens Michael Priess is being recognised for his longstanding and consistent dedication to equality – both in his role at Skuld and in his personal and professional environments. As an active member of the Diversity Project Group, he played a key role in the development and implementation of the Ambassador Initiative. His genuine support and ongoing efforts to create equal opportunities make him a role model within the industry.
WISTA Ambassadors Commit to Greater Diversity
Alexander Geisler, long-time Managing Director of the Central Association of German Shipbrokers, is being honoured for his continued promotion of female talent and his extensive support of diversity initiatives. Through his strategic work within the association, he has made a significant impact on fostering a modern, inclusive maritime economy and has consistently advocated for greater visibility of women in leadership roles.
During the event, both ambassadors signed the international WISTA Pledge, reaffirming their personal commitment to greater diversity and inclusion in the maritime sector.
“With the appointment of our first ambassadors, we are sending a clear message: diversity concerns all of us – and only together can we bring about real change,” said the Diversity Project Group of WISTA Germany.
