The Board of Directors of Viking Line has appointed Marcus Risberg as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Risberg will take up his new role no later than January 1, 2026, succeeding Jan Hanses, who is retiring after eleven years as CEO and 38 years of service with the company.
“We are delighted to welcome Marcus Risberg as the new CEO of Viking Line. He has real expertise in the industry, having gained experience at both Tallink Silja and Gotlandsbolaget, and he is a respected and established leader,” says Jakob Johansson, Chairman of the Board of Viking Line.
“Marcus Risberg was born in Finland, grew up in the Åland Islands and has worked in Sweden, which gives him an understanding of the culture that shapes our business. The board, which has conducted a thorough recruitment process with several excellent candidates, is convinced that he is the right person to lead the company into the next phase,” Johansson continues.
Risberg was previously CEO of Destination Gotland
Marcus Risberg comments: “It fills me with great pride and humility that I am taking on the role of CEO of Viking Line. The company has a long and proud history in Baltic transportation and I look forward to working with the team to further develop the company with a focus on sustainability, innovation and customer experience.”
Jan Hanses will fulfil an advisory role during a transitional period and will be a member of the company’s Board of Directors.
