The Viking shipping company christened nine river cruise ships simultaneously in Basel and Rostock. Four of them come from the Neptun shipyard in Rostock: the “Viking Honir” (p.588), which was christened in Basel, and the “Viking Eldir” (p.589), “Viking Annar” (p.590) and “Viking Dagur” (p.591), which were named in Rostock.
During a live link between the two cities, employees of the Neptun shipyard followed the event directly on board the ships berthed in Rostock. The ceremony marked a special milestone for Viking: the “Viking” Honir was the 100th river cruise ship to join the fleet.
CEO Stephan Schmees explained: “Today’s christening of four river cruise ships from Neptun Werft is a special moment for us. Together with our staff, we are not only celebrating this milestone, but also the long-standing, trusting partnership with Viking. We have already delivered a total of 67 ships to the shipping company, making a significant contribution to the development of its fleet. We are particularly proud that the ‘Viking Honir’, built by us, is the 100th river cruise ship to join the Viking fleet. We look forward to continuing this successful collaboration in the future.”
