Vard builds next CSOV for Rem Offshore

The Norwegian shipping company Rem Offshore has ordered another CSOV unit from the shipbuilding company Vard.

It will be the shipyard’s third vessel to support the Rem fleet. After the “Rem Power” and the “Rem Wind” (delivered in 2023 and 2024), the shipyard controlled by Fincantieri is now building the next ship with the model name “Vard 4 19”. The CSOV (Commissioning Service Operation Vessel) will be 85 meters long and is equipped with a diesel-electric and a battery-hybrid propulsion system. According to Rem, a “considerable amount” will be invested in the future to convert the vessel to emission-free operation.

The ship will be built at the Vung Tau site in Vietnam, where a research vessel for Ocean Infinity is also currently under construction. Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
