USA auctions “Amadea” to fund Ukraine

Interested parties can bid on the confiscated superyacht “Amadea” at an auction until September 10. The proceeds from the auction will go to Ukraine.

In May 2022, U.S. authorities had the yacht confiscated in Fiji. Its presumed owner, the Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov, had moved “Amadea” to the South Pacific to circumvent Western sanctions and avoid confiscation.

However, at the request of the U.S. judiciary, the yacht was confiscated and subsequently transferred to the United States. The “Amadea” is currently in San Diego, California.

The superyacht, which cost around 300 million U.S. dollars, can now be purchased via an auction platform. Bids can be submitted until September 10, with a minimum deposit of USD 10 million.

“Amadea” was built by Lürssen-Kröger

The “Amadea” was built in 2017 at the Lürssen-Kröger shipyard in Rendsburg. She is 106 meters long and 18.30 meters wide. With a gross tonnage of 4,402 GT, she offers space for up to 16 guests in eight cabins.

The exterior design was created by Espen Øino, the interior was designed by François Zuretti. The yacht, which can reach speeds of up to 20 knots, is classified by Lloyd’s Register.

The auction is being organized by National Maritime Services in collaboration with Fraser Yachts. The order to auction was issued by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
