Tommy Olofsen takes helm at OSM Thome Group

Change of leadership at one of the world’s leading ship managers: OSM Thome Limited Group, headquartered in Arendal, has announced that Finn Amund Norbye is stepping down from his role as CEO and retiring after a long career.

Norbye was at the helm of the company for six years and played a central role in the merger of OSM Maritime Group with Thome Group in spring 2024.

In a company statement, the Board of Directors thanked Norbye for his achievements and confirmed that he will remain with the company in a non-executive capacity as an advisor to support a smooth transition.

With immediate effect, Tommy Olofsen, previously Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and with the company for twelve years, has been promoted to Group Managing Director. He will assume overall responsibility for the management of the OSMT Group.

“It has been a privilege to lead the OSMT Group through an exciting period of growth and to work with a dedicated, talented management team, of which Tommy has been a key part,” Norbye emphasized.

Olofsen paid tribute to his predecessor and said: “Finn Amund has led the Group through a crucial development phase. We are grateful for his contributions and look forward to further developing OSMT Group as the world’s leading independent ship manager and creating value for clients and stakeholders.”

OSM Thome Group currently employs around 31,000 people worldwide, including approximately 29,000 seafarers and around 2,000 shore-based employees in more than 30 global offices. The employees and crew come from over 70 nations and work in a wide range of segments, from tankers to bulk carriers, container and offshore vessels to cruise ships.
