Spain to Morocco in 90 minutes with DFDS

The ferry operator DFDS is offering new connections in the Strait of Gibraltar. Ferry passengers can now travel from Spain to Morocco by catamaran in around 90 minutes.

DFDS recently acquired the shipping company FRS Iberia/Maroc, a subsidiary of the Flensburg-based German ferry operator FRS. Additional routes are now available to travellers [ds_preview].

DFDS offers three new routes

With the integration of FRS Iberia/Maroc, DFDS is now introducing three new short-haul ferries that cross the Strait of Gibraltar and connect Spain with Morocco. The short journey time of only 60-90 minutes is to be emphasized, allowing guests to travel quickly and comfortably with high-speed catamarans such as the “Tarifa Jet” and the “Algeciras Jet”.

Passengers can choose between the following connections: Tarifa-Tanger Ville, Algeciras-Tanger Med and Algeciras-Ceuta. Each of these routes promises a pleasant journey for those planning both short trips and longer journeys and who choose to travel by water.

Takeover offers new travel options

Kasper Moos, DFDS Vice-President and Head of Passenger, explains the importance of this expansion: “The addition of FRS Iberia/Maroc to our portfolio is a sign of our commitment to always offer reliability, comfort and exceptional service to our passengers. This acquisition fits perfectly with DFDS’ vision and represents an important step in expanding our route offering.”

With the acquisition of FRS Iberia/Maroc, the Danish ferry company expands its offering of already established Northern European passenger routes such as Amsterdam-Newcastle, Copenhagen-Oslo and Calais-Dover, which last carried around 4.7 million passengers in 2023, with new travel options to North Africa.
