Shipping company Sallaum relocates headquarters to Cyprus

The shipping company Sallaum Lines has announced the relocation of its headquarters from Switzerland to Limassol in Cyprus.

With this step, the internationally active RoRo carrier aims to further strengthen its position in the European shipping market and move closer to central maritime markets, institutions and regulatory structures. Cyprus is one of the world’s leading shipping locations and is also the largest hub for ship management in Europe.

“The move to Limassol marks an exciting new chapter for Sallaum Lines,” explains Sami Sallaum, Chairman of Sallaum Lines. “Relocating our headquarters to Cyprus will strengthen our capabilities and fits perfectly with our vision, which is based on strategic pillars that focus on the environment, society, innovation, our people and economic growth. At the same time, we are expanding our reach in the RoRo segment. We look forward to seizing the opportunities that Cyprus offers and welcoming our employees, shareholders and business partners to our new location,” Sallaum continues.

The relocation of the company’s headquarters comes at a time of significant expansion. Sallaum Lines is currently pushing ahead with extensive investment and modernization programs. These include six dual-fuel PCTC newbuildings that have been ordered to renew the fleet and reduce the ecological footprint at the same time. In addition, the company is investing €20 million in its terminal in Antwerp, Belgium, to expand the site’s infrastructure and efficiency.

As the latest step in the modernization of its fleet, the specialist shipping company has also taken delivery of the new LNG-powered car carrier “Ocean Explorer”. The “Ocean” class PCTC was built at the Chinese shipyard Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, is 199.90 m long, 38 m wide and has a capacity of 7,500 CEU on 13 decks. Equipped with an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system, the ship is designed to significantly reduce CO₂, NOx, SOx and particulate emissions. After the “Ocean Breeze”, the “Ocean Explorer” is the company’s second LNG-powered ship.
