“Silja Serenade” undergoes maintenance at Remontowa

The Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, has received an order for the maintenance of a cruise ferry from the Tallink shipping company.

The Estonian company is sending the “Silja Serenade”, which operates on the Helsinki-Stockholm route, to Remontowa for a few weeks. Technical maintenance is on the agenda from 7 to 29 January. The ship will be temporarily withdrawn from service and taken to the Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, for its scheduled maintenance. There, the underwater part of the ship’s hull will undergo regular maintenance and be painted.

As part of the technical maintenance, the ship’s electronic systems, in particular, will be brought up to date: the integrated automation system, the propulsion control system, the fire alarm system and the announcement system will be comprehensively modernised. In addition, routine overhauls of underwater components, such as thrusters and rudders, as well as planned maintenance work that is not feasible during regular operations, will be carried out.

ABS is supervising the work at Remontowa

The work will be carried out under the supervision of the classification society ABS. “Experienced technicians from all over Europe will be deployed to achieve the best result,” the shipping company announced.

During the dry docking of the “Silja Serenade”, the sister ship “Silja Symphony” will operate solely on the Helsinki-Stockholm route. There will, therefore, be daily departures, alternating between Helsinki and Stockholm, during this period.

“The ‘Silja Serenade’ is one of the most popular ships in our fleet. After dry docking, the ship will have undergone several important technical upgrades and the hull will also have been refreshed to ensure that it is in good condition for sailing the Baltic Sea in time for the 2025 season,” said Captain Tarvi-Carlos Tuulik, Head of Ship Management at Tallink Grupp.
