Oceanco delivers superyacht “Dreamboat”

The Dutch shipyard Oceanco has now handed over the 111-meter-long superyacht “Dreamboat” to its owner.

The ship, previously listed as project “Y726”, was ordered in 2022 and, at 4,550 GT, is one of the highest-volume units Oceanco has ever built. It is the second yacht of the same name for the same owner. According to Oceanco, the exceptionally short project duration was a special feature of the new yacht: initial discussions took place in November 2021, the contract was signed in February 2022 and delivery has now taken place.

When it comes to energy efficiency, “Dreamboat” focuses on solutions to reduce consumption and emissions. The hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system integrates batteries for emission-free driving under certain conditions, while variable generators adapt the power output to the actual demand. A heat recovery system reuses the heat generated by the engines for heating and other on-board functions. According to Oceanco, these solutions contribute to an estimated CO₂ reduction of up to thirty percent compared to similar yachts with a conventional configuration.

The diesel-electric propulsion also significantly reduces noise and vibration levels, which increases comfort on board. The energy management system continuously monitors and optimizes consumption and distributes energy according to operational priorities.

The yacht can accommodate up to 28 guests and 34 crew members. Exterior features include a winter garden, a covered terrace area, an open-air cinema and a private owner’s deck. At the stern is a spacious leisure area with pool and jacuzzi. A golf simulator has also been integrated on the sun deck. Inside, the facilities include a cinema area, fitness room, spa with sauna and steam bath and a beach club with direct access to the bathing platform. Large glass surfaces provide plenty of daylight and views.

The motor yacht is attributed to Arthur M. Blank, a US billionaire and co-founder of Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons NFL team. The design of the name is a play on words and incorporates his initials “AMB”-Arthur M. Blank.

Oceanco, founded in 1987, only changed ownership in August: Valve founder Gabe Newell took over the shares of the Omani Barwani family, who had developed the shipyard into a leading specialist in the construction of large private yachts over the past 15 years. Oceanco has specialized in the construction of custom-built mega yachts over 80 meters since 2005. The shipyard has modern facilities, including an air-conditioned hall for yachts up to 130 m and a covered dry dock for yachts up to 140 m in length. The site is located on the Noord river in Alblasserdam with direct access to the sea via inland waterways.
