Hessel Verhage, the previous Management Board member responsible for contract logistics, is leaving DB Schenker. The previous CEO Asia/Pacific is now moving into the position.
Niklas Wilmking (49) will take up his position as Board Member for Contract Logistics and Supply Chain Management on January 1, 2024. DB Schenker CEO Jochen Thewes: “Even in his current role as CEO Asia/Pacific, he has always led his teams with expertise and prudence. He brings the positive energy and the will to make the best out of DB Schenker every day. We are proud that he is now being appointed to the Management Board from our own ranks.” [ds_preview]
Wilmking has worked for the logistics company in various management positions since 2002, most recently as CEO Asia/Pacific. Prior to that, he was Global Head of Air Freight and held key positions in Germany and the Asia/Pacific region, including Managing Director of the Vietnam branch and Vice President Strategic Business Development for the Asia/Pacific region. He holds a doctorate in logistics from the Technical University of Berlin.
Wilmking takes over from Hessel Verhage, who, according to the logistics group, “has decided to leave DB Schenker for personal reasons and move back to his family in the USA”. He will therefore shortly be taking on a new role outside the logistics sector there.
Holle: “We very much regret this and thank him for his successful work in outstanding positions for DB Schenker, most recently as Board Member for Contract Logistics and Executive Vice President Global Transformation.”
