MSC: new service from Gothenburg to Asia

MSC has launched a new container service with direct traffic between the port of Gothenburg and Asia. The port of Hamburg will also benefit from this.

In future, MSC ships with a capacity of more than 15,000 TEU will transport goods directly from Gothenburg in Sweden to China, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam every week.

The first ship, the “MSC Auriga”, arrived in Gothenburg on Sunday evening. It will then sail directly to Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, Yokohama, Singapore and Busan. “We are pleased to introduce our independent network to the Swedish market via the port of Gothenburg,” said Fredrik Magaji, Commercial Director at MSC Sweden.

In addition to the new direct service, MSC says it will offer two additional sailings per week. Via stopovers in Bremerhaven or Antwerp, destinations in North and South America, the Mediterranean and Africa as well as other ports within MSC’s global network can be reached.

MSC’s new direct service will operate every week on the following route:
Gothenburg – Aarhus – Hamburg – Antwerp – Port Klang – Singapore – Laem Chabang – Vung Tau – Busan – Yokohama – Ningbo – Shanghai – Xiamen – Yantian – Singapore – Sines – Le Havre – Rotterdam – Gothenburg.
