Meyer and Oceaya start the construction of a floating event platform

The Meyer shipyard subsidiary “Meyer Floating Solutions” and its partner Oceaya have started building a floating event location.

While the parent company is struggling with a number of problems, Meyer Floating Solutions, which was only founded last year, has reached an important milestone.

Construction of the “world’s first modular floating entertainment centre” began with a traditional steel cutting ceremony in Tallinn, according to the partners, whose project was announced in March. The plan is for a multi-purpose platform that offers “dynamic experiences and opens a new chapter in the world of luxury gastronomy and entertainment”. From 2025, the “Oceaya” will sail to the world’s most beautiful destinations. Meyer Floating Solutions is contributing its engineering and floating construction expertise to the construction phase.

Daniels Ikajevs, CEO of Oceaya and the brainchild behind the Florida-based company Oceaya, said: “Together with my team, our goal was to work with the world’s best engineers to realise my vision. Meyer has always been at the forefront of developing and building innovative projects. Today, I am delighted that the first physical steps towards the realisation of Oceaya are taking place at this state-of-the-art shipyard.”

Meyer and Oceaya aim to deliver in 2025

Antti Laaksonen, Project Manager at Meyer Floating Solutions, was also very pleased: “Despite the extensive work behind the scenes, it is very satisfying to see our projects like Oceaya come to life and introduce ground-breaking solutions.”

Construction on Oceaya is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025 and the first residences will be announced later this year. Features include:

  • Modularity: size and shape changeable according to need, from 604 m² to over 1,161 m²
  • Luxurious multifunctionality: Oceaya can be “transformed” into various configurations and uses – from a fine dining restaurant and high-end bar to a day lounge, nightclub, cinema, catwalk and an exclusive venue for private and corporate events.
  • Sustainability: Oceaya is working with maritime research organisations and will also be involved in other projects.
