Following the serious fire in a shipbuilding hall, the Kröger shipyard, which belongs to the Lürssen Group, is to resume work in parts.
The fire that broke out in a shipbuilding hall at the Lürssen-Kröger shipyard in Rendsburg on Tuesday has been extinguished.
“We will now begin the clean-up work step by step in coordination with the responsible authorities,” the shipyard announced. Shipyard operations will be “gradually restarted in designated areas of the shipyard site.”
A major fire broke out on a luxury yacht at the Lürssen-Kröger shipyard on the Kiel Canal (NOK); over 100 firefighters from the Rendsburg area were on site. The column of smoke was visible throughout the Rendsburg area and several explosions could be heard.
One person suffered slight smoke inhalation and the entire shipyard was evacuated. The NOK was initially closed to shipping traffic, but was reopened. According to several sources, the luxury yacht on fire is believed to be the “Honolulu”.
