Lürssen delivers mega yacht “Luminance”

Around a year after undocking at the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen-Nord, the 145-meter-long mega yacht “Luminance” has now left the building site.

The yacht, which was delivered to Lürssen for an unknown client and has the construction number 13774, initially set course from the Weser to Kristiansand in Norway[ds_preview].

The “Luminance“, which is therefore the real name and not just the project name, completed its second trial run in the shipyard in September last year, meaning that delivery had been expected for some time. With a characteristic elongated bow and a striking deep blue hull, the “Luminance” has an exterior design created by Espen Øino International.

The interiors were designed by Zuretti Interior Design, while the naval architecture is by Lürssen Yachts. The main propulsion is provided by MTU engines, the ship, which can carry around 24 people, is driven by two propulsion propellers and reaches a top speed of up to 20 knots. The service speed is 16 knots.

8th place in the Lürssen ranking

The Lürssen newbuild offers guests a wide range of amenities on the four passenger decks, including two whirlpools on the upper deck and a large swimming pool at the stern. In addition, the superyacht has large lounge areas on her aft decks, which offer guests a panoramic view of the sea. Among other things, the yacht has two touch-and-go helipads, one at the bow and one on the upper deck aft.

The “Luminance”, whose keel was laid in 2018, is currently the eighth largest yacht that Lürssen Yachts has ever built and is ranked 14th among the largest yachts in the world.

There is no information yet about the construction costs or the client. However, there was a reference in the New York Times in May 2022 that the Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov may be the owner. However, as is usual in this industry, the shipyard has not commented on this. Akhmetov is considered one of the richest people in Ukraine and is the founder and owner of the investment company System Capital Management, which has interests in a variety of industries, including steel, energy and real estate.
