London law firm HFW brings captain on board

The law firm Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) is strengthening its maritime sector: Mike Bunton has joined the firm’s maritime and crisis management practice.

As a captain, he has over 20 years of experience in shipping. Most recently, he was Head of Navigation at the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). [Prior to this, Brunton held various positions at TechnipFMC, including Master Mariner and Senior Chief Officer. He also worked at Wighlink Isle of Wight Ferries.

HFW now has 14 seafarers and captains in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. They will work with more than 40 of the general average specialist’s lawyers.

“I am delighted to welcome Mike to our maritime law and crisis management team,” said Dominic Johnson, Head of Department at HFW. “Mike’s extensive experience at sea and his work with the MCA will complement and strengthen our already strong team of seafarers who continue to provide excellent technical support to our clients in managing their complex and often spectacular casualties.”
