Liebherr: 75 Years of Maritime Innovation

For 75 years, Liebherr has been a reliable partner for sophisticated maritime products and services. Liebherr’s dedication to excellence is reflected in customised cranes and components for diverse requirements in on- and off-shore operations. The flexibility and scalability of the components allow for the provision of customer-specific drive systems, ensuring not only high operational safety and long-term availability, but also reliable services.

The state-of-the-art components by Liebherr feature high quality, exceptional reliability and durability. Their robust design allows them to withstand extreme environmental conditions, such as temperature fluctuations, vibrations, or harsh maritime environments. Their comprehensive product portfolio includes gearboxes, winches, slewing bearings, slew drives for offshore and maritime cranes, as well as wind-assisted propulsion in shipping. These components have proven themselves not only in maritime applications, but also in construction machinery, mining equipment, wind turbines, decentralised energy systems, and transportation.

Liebherr’s commitment extends beyond production to comprehensive after-sales support, including remanufacturing of components. In the focus of Liebherr’s exhibition appearance is a complete solution for wind-assisted propulsion as a contribution to a more responsible, efficient, and environmental-friendly maritime future. To develop the essential components for wind-assisted propulsion like slewing bearings, drives, or hydraulic cylinders, Liebherr leverages its vast experience in offshore crane production, as well as its expertise in the field of offshore wind turbines and blade bearings. The approach to the calculation of forces on the high seas has been derived thereof and served as the basis for the development of a tool for optimal components design to enable the turning of the sails into/to the wind.
