The JSI Alliance is expanding its presence in Southern Europe: A new office in Bilbao takes over the management of the Alliance’s entire MPP and heavy lift carrier fleet for Spain, Portugal and North Africa.
The JSI Alliance has expanded its presence on the Iberian Peninsula with the opening of a new office in Bilbao. The branch in the northern Spanish shipping and logistics center takes over the commercial representation and coordinates port services in Spain, Portugal and North Africa. It was founded in cooperation between Noatum Maritime Services and SAL Heavy Lift from Hamburg. The alliance’s entire fleet of MPP and heavy lift vessels will be managed from Bilbao.
“In SAL Heavy Lift and the JSI Alliance, we have found the ideal partners to consistently implement our growth strategy in the port services sector,” explained Terry Gidlow, CEO of Noatum Maritime Services. “Both parties have decades of experience in the international project and heavy lift business and complement each other perfectly.”
Noatum Maritime Services is a subsidiary of Noatum Maritime, a leading provider of port and agency services in the Mediterranean region. The company is also continuously expanding its activities in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and America and is responsible for the Maritime & Shipping division of the AD Ports Group.
“A strong team led by Josu Iturri in Bilbao and the close cooperation with Noatum Maritime Services will be crucial for our future development. This will link our presence in North and South America even more closely with European ports, as many transatlantic routes pass through the Iberian Peninsula. Against the background of our fleet expansion, strengthening our Spanish business is the next logical step,” emphasized Martin Harren, CEO of SAL Heavy Lift, Intermarine and the Harren Group.
The combined fleet of the JSI Alliance – consisting of Jumbo Shipping (Netherlands), SAL Heavy Lift (Germany) and Intermarine (USA) – is one of the leading providers in project and heavy lift transportation. With lifting capacities of up to 3,000 tons, it covers a wide range of services.
