Investor Laurens Last takes over Heesen Yachts

The Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has announced its takeover by entrepreneur Laurens Last.

The transaction is intended to secure the shipyard’s financial base. Heesen achieved a record result in 2024.

“This takeover is more than an investment – it’s a dream,” said Last. “Heesen represents the pinnacle of Dutch engineering and maritime craftsmanship. I am honored to take over the ownership and ensure that the brand continues to thrive in the future.”

Laurens Last is a Dutch entrepreneur and investor with many years of experience in manufacturing and international business development. Through his TSAL Family Office, he manages a portfolio of companies and is committed to long-term growth and accelerating innovation. He is also a passionate sailor and has a “deep personal connection to the yacht lifestyle”, according to Heesen Yachts. His takeover will enable the shipyard to continue designing and building high-quality yachts.

Heesen recently achieved a turnover of over €200 million

Heesen posted a record result in 2024 with a turnover of € 209 million and an adjusted EBITDA of € 17 million. According to the shipyard, this underlines its solid foundation and readiness for future growth. Under Last’s leadership, the company will continue to focus on the global expansion of sales and technological innovations.

Niels Vaessen, CEO of Heesen Yachts, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Laurens Last to the Heesen family. His profile fits perfectly: a successful Dutch entrepreneur with a real passion for yachting. His vision and commitment will enable us to preserve our customers’ heritage while leading Heesen into an exciting future.”

Heesen is the only fully integrated yacht builder in the Netherlands. With its state-of-the-art shipyard and in-house luxury interior design, the company controls every stage of the yacht building process – from conception and construction to final outfitting. The shipyard was founded in 1978 and specializes in the construction of steel and aluminium motor yachts ranging in length from 50 to 80 metres. In total, the company has built over 200 yachts.
