The HHLA TK Estonia terminal, a subsidiary of Hamburg-based HHLA, is starting the grain season with modernised and expanded handling facilities.
The company recently added three new storage sections to its facilities and significantly improved its automatic receiving and weighing systems, according to a press release.
As the largest warehouse operator in the region, HHLA TK Estonia offers a wide range of storage options for pellets and grain. The terminal has 86,500 m² of specialised covered warehouses, complemented by extensive open areas. With this expansion, the facility can handle up to 500,000 tons of bulk goods annually.
First hybrid crane at TK Estonia
The new bulk terminal concept integrates state-of-the-art storage solutions, digital innovations and advanced loading equipment with dual-current technology. The highlight of this development is the Mantsinen 120 DER mobile hydro crane, which can handle up to 620 tons of bulk goods per hour. This crane is the first of its kind in the Baltics to be equipped with both electric motors and a diesel engine, which promotes operational flexibility and efficiency.
In line with HHLA TK Estonia’s commitment to sustainability, three solar parks with a total capacity of 310 kW have been installed on the roofs of the new facilities. This integration of renewable energy ensures that a significant proportion of charging operations can be carried out with minimal greenhouse gas emissions.
“Our customers are increasingly emphasising sustainable practices and our new facilities are designed to meet these expectations,” says Andres Uusoja, Chief Commercial Officer of HHLA TK Estonia.
