Hapag-Lloyd’s terminal subsidiary buys into Le Havre

Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT), terminal subsidiary of Hapag-Lloyd, has acquired 60% of the shares in CNMP LH from the Seafrigo Group.

As an independent company, CNMP LH operates the Atlantique Container Terminal in Le Havre, France. The remaining 40% of the shares in CNMP LH will remain in the ownership of the Seafrigo Group, which specializes in temperature-controlled food logistics. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the transaction.

Le Havre is one of the ten largest ports in Europe, is the most important port for maritime traffic to and from France with an annual container throughput of 3 million TEU and offers excellent hinterland connections to Paris. The container throughput of the CNMP LH Terminal is set to grow further in the coming years – including in the attractive reefer container business.

“By acquiring a majority stake in the CNMP LH Terminal in Le Havre, we are strengthening our position in one of our core European markets,” said Dheeraj Bhatia, CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT).

“We are very pleased to have Hanseatic Global Terminals as a strong partner with whom we will further modernize the CNMP LH Terminal in Le Havre. This will significantly strengthen the profile of our joint terminal as an important gateway for container transportation in the port of Le Havre,” said Eric Barbé, President of the Seafrigo Group.

Terminal and infrastructure investments are an integral part of Hanseatic Global Terminals’ strategic agenda, which aims to further develop its portfolio and grow it to more than 30 terminals by 2030.

Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hapag-Lloyd. From Rotterdam, the company manages investments in 21 port terminals worldwide and complementary logistics services in 12 countries and on four continents.
