Fincantieri secures billion-euro order from NCL

The Italian shipyard group Fincantieri is building four cruise ships for Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). They will be delivered from 2030.

The letter of intent has now been converted into a final order. As announced in April 2024, the new units will represent the top of Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet and will be the largest ever built for the brand. The order value is estimated at more than $4 billion.

The ships will be built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, with the first unit to be delivered in 2030 and the others to follow in 2032, 2034 and 2036. With over 5,100 berths (226,000 GT), the new units will be the largest ever built for NCL. There will be room for more than 8,300 people on board, including the crew.

Designed to the highest standards of comfort and technology, the ships will also have sustainable features.

Fincantieri has already built two ships for the NCL brand, the “Norwegian Prima” and the “Norwegian Viva”, while the “Norwegian Aqua”, the first unit of the Prima Plus class, will be delivered in the coming months. In addition, three more ships are in various stages of planning and construction.
