The Greek bulk shipping company Diana Shipping will also be active in the liquefied petroleum gas sector in future.
To this end, the company has invested in a new joint venture that will build two LPG tankers. Delivery is planned for 2027.
Diana Shipping will hold an 80% stake in the Ecogas Holding joint venture, with the remaining 20% belonging to the Spanish tanker company Tradewind Tankers, which ordered two LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) newbuildings from the Chinese shipyard Jinling Shipyard at the end of last year.
The tankers that have now been ordered will each have a volume of. 7,500 m3 each. The first is expected in the first quarter and the second in the fourth quarter of 2027. There is also an option for two more ships.
This is the second diversification of Diana Shipping, after the shipping company founded the Windward Offshore joint venture together with two German companies in 2023, which specializes in the ownership and operation of Construction Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) in the wind power segment. Diana’s fleet currently comprises 37 bulkers and two Kamsarmax newbuildings, which are scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2028.
