The Dutch shipbuilding group Damen and the Swedish supplier Alfa Laval want to cooperate in the field of energy efficiency in the maritime industry in the future.
The partnership, for which a letter of intent has now been signed, brings together “two important players who want to support shipowners in the transition to lower-carbon operations”, according to the press release.
Together, they want to focus on identifying opportunities to improve sustainability during the tender and project phases of ship maintenance and conversion. For example, decarbonization upgrades are to become “a natural part” of regular dry dockings.
“Together we can help shipowners take real steps towards the IMO and EU sustainability targets,” said Michele Rivella, Sales Manager Sustainability at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam. “By integrating Alfa Laval’s solutions into our existing workflows, we are creating a smooth, efficient way for our customers to make meaningful changes – without additional downtime.”
The collaboration also includes joint customer visits and events, such as a planned sustainability day during the Alfa Laval Marine Days in September this year. “This partnership allows us to offer a range of innovative solutions and technologies, through a trusted shipyard partner who shares our commitment to sustainable progress,” said David van Luijtelaar, Head of Marine Division Benelux.
