D. Oltmann makes further purchases for fleet

After a long break, Bremen-based shipping company D. Oltmann is continuing to expand its own fleet with acquisitions on the second-hand market.

According to broker reports, the long-established Bremen-based shipping company D. Oltmann has purchased two 4,582 TEU wide beams built in 2013. The previous owner is reportedly Kukje Maritime Investment from South Korea.

The purchase price for each ship is reportedly around US$53m. Both ships are currently chartered to Maersk. It is unclear whether these contracts are part of the transaction.

The “KMARIN Azur” and “KMARIN Atlantica” were both built by the South Korean shipyard Hyundai Samho, originally for the former Hanjin liner shipping company. They sailed there until the company went bankrupt in 2016.

The classic Panamax ships have a load capacity of 66,350 tons, a length of 249.97 metres and a width of 37.40 metres. They are equipped with 500 reefer connections.

Rerderei D. Oltmann, whose history dates back to 1871, is now managed by Dirk-Olaf Rogge. Three Seamax vessels with 7,500 TEU, 8,204 TEU and 8,533 TEU were last purchased in April 2024.

The industry service Vessels Value lists twelve container ships with capacities between 3,674 and 10,100 TEU in the D. Oltmann fleet, with a focus on post-Panamax units. The two most recent acquisitions are not yet included.
