The US shipping company Crowley will operate the largest bunker ship under the US flag in future. It was built by Fincantieri.
The “Progress” is reportedly the largest Jones Act-compliant ship of its kind in the USA. It was built by Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay (Wisconsin).
The bunker vessel, designed by the Engineering Services Group, which also belongs to Crowley, is 127 m long and has a capacity of 12,000 m³. The “Progress” will be stationed in Savannah (Georgia) and will supply ships along the US East Coast with LNG. The newbuild will be able to operate various technical systems.

“The ‘Progress’ sets a new standard for quality and performance to meet the energy needs of the shipping industry,” said James C. Fowler, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crowley Shipping.
LNG offers a safe and reliable solution for maritime shipping companies, driving the transition to lower emissions. Compared to low-sulphur fossil fuel, it produces up to 23% less greenhouse gas emissions (well-to-wake).
