Christopher Cook will take up the position of Managing Director of the Maersk Area UK & Ireland at the start of 2026. The Briton succeeds his role as Managing Director of the India, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka Area.
Cook joined Maersk as a trainee in 2002 and has since held several management positions in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and India, both in the former Damco business and at Maersk. He has spent the last seven years in the IMEA region. As Managing Director of the UAE area, he was initially responsible for the integration and transformation of the organization there. During this phase, he succeeded in streamlining structures and integrating operational processes more closely.
With this change, the Danish liner shipping company aims to further strengthen the position of the UK & Ireland area. The market is considered strategically important within the European network, both for maritime logistics and for integrated supply chain solutions.
Most recently, Cook headed the IBS area, where he translated the long-term strategy of the business unit into operational implementation. Under his leadership, operational performance was strengthened and profitability increased in several segments. According to the company, it was possible to sustainably improve business development across the entire portfolio.
Aymeric Chandavoine, EVP & President Region Europe at Maersk, welcomes the decision: “Cook not only has extensive international management experience, but also knows the British market from his previous work. His strong customer focus and commitment to employee development and cultural change in the organizations he leads are particularly highlighted.
