Columbia joins forces with AD Ports

The ship manager Columbia, part of the Schoeller Group, is launching a new shipping company venture with AD Ports.

The Abu Dhabi-based port and logistics giant AD Ports Group and the ship management group Columbia have founded a joint venture. Under the name Noatum-CSM, the AD Ports fleet and third-party vessels will be managed, according to a statement.

In particular, the two partners want to use advanced fleet management systems and AI-supported performance analyses. For example, Columbia will provide its own digital data platform, which can be used to optimize routes, speed, bunker usage and emissions accounting with the help of real-time data.

“By expanding our capacities, our customers benefit from higher quality and efficiency,” said Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, CEO Maritime & Shipping at AD Ports. For Columbia, it is an expansion of its presence in the Middle East, according to CEO Mark O’Neil.

Noatum-CSM will be based in the United Arab Emirates and will reportedly establish a comprehensive crew management and procurement, training and other operational services departments.
