The Belgian shipping group CMB.Tech, owned by the Saverys family, has sold eight ships from its fleet, generating a total book profit of around $269.2 million.
The transactions are part of the company’s fleet rejuvenation strategy. The Antwerp-based shipping group sold six VLCCs in the Euronav subsidiary segment. These are the tankers “Daishan” (year of construction 2007, 306,005 dwt), “Hirado” (year of construction 2011, 302,550 dwt), “Hojo” (year of construction 2013, 302.965 dwt), “Dia” (year of construction 2015, 299,999 dwt), “Antigone” (year of construction 2015, 299,421 dwt) and “Aegean” (year of construction 2016, 299,999 dwt).
The company expects a book profit of around $261.1 million from these sales in the first quarter of 2026. The ships are also scheduled to be handed over to their new owners in Q1 2026.
CMB.Tech also sold two Capesize bulkers via its subsidiary Bocimar: the “Golden Magnum” (built in 2009, 179,790 dwt) and the “Belgravia” (built in 2009, 169,390 dwt). According to the company, these sales will lead to an additional book profit of around $8.1 million in the first quarter of 2026. Both units were already handed over to their new owners in January.
The proceeds from the transactions will be used to repay existing credit facilities. In addition, CMB.Tech intends to distribute 50% of the profit generated from the sales to shareholders. The publication of the results for the fourth quarter of 2025 has been announced for February 26, 2026
