The Greek company Capital Gas Ship Management has taken delivery of three new LNG tankers from the South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The newbuildings are part of a series of 18 LNG ships to be delivered by 2027. The sister ships, named “Assos”, “Apostolos” and “Aktoras”, each have a cargo capacity of 174,000m3 and are powered by MAN-engines.
Capital Gas relies on an environmentally friendly fleet
They are also equipped with the latest technologies such as an air lubrication system, shaft generators and increased filling limits (over 99%). According to Capital Gas, the vessels “set the benchmark for the industry” with their exceptionally low environmental impact through technologies to minimize methane and CO2 emissions.
The company’s previous LNG tankers of the same size were delivered in 2020, 2021 and 2023. With the newbuilds, the LNG fleet will grow to a total of eleven ships.
In addition to the LNG tankers, the Athens-based shipping company has a total volume of 3.69 million m3 with LPG tankers, four liquid CO2 tankers and dual-fuel VLACs.
