The move to new, larger offices in Xinyi, Taipei, underlines Cadeler’s focus on strengthening customer cooperation and long-term growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
Formerly part of the Swire Group, the shipping company – which has been based in Denmark since its IPO and has been on a growth trajectory for years with an extensive newbuilding program and not least due to the merger with Eneti – is also very well known in local wind farm projects with its large installation and service vessels.
With the new branch, the company now sees itself even better positioned to pursue and implement offshore wind projects in the region’s growing markets – from Taiwan’s well-developed offshore wind sector to emerging centers such as Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Australia and beyond.
Following the merger with Seajacks/Eneti in 2023, Cadeler already has a presence in Taiwan. The company sees itself as a pioneer in the Taiwanese offshore wind market – among other things through its participation in Taiwan’s first commercial offshore wind farm “Formosa 1”.
Today, Cadeler has two ships operating in Taiwanese waters: The “Wind Maker” is installing 14 MW turbines at Ørsted’s Greater Changhua 2b & 4 offshore wind farm, and the “Wind Zaratan” is operating under a long-term service contract with Vestas. Looking to the future, Cadeler’s vessels have been awarded a regional contract that runs until the end of the decade. In 2027, the “Wind Maker” and her crew are contracted to install turbines for Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ Fengmiao-1 project. And in 2028, Cadeler will install 14 MW turbines from Siemens Gamesa at the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan, developed by Synera Renewable Energy (SRE).
The Asia-Pacific region is considered an important growth market for offshore wind energy. South Korea and Japan are increasing their ambitions, and new opportunities are emerging in deep-sea markets such as Australia. Vietnam has reaffirmed its offshore wind targets, the Philippines has just launched its first auction and Singapore is positioning itself as a major importer of renewable energy.
“Cadeler’s new office in Taipei will become the hub for expanding our regional presence – supporting local teams, strengthening client relationships and coordinating cross-border opportunities as we drive momentum for a clean energy future across Asia Pacific,” says Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler.
