Bureau Veritas Unveils MOVE for Sustainable Shipping

At SMM 2024 in Hamburg, classification society Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (M&O) will participate with its “We’re by your side” campaign and present innovative solutions for a sustainable maritime future. One highlight is the launch of the new project management tool MOVE, which enables the maritime industry to manage projects efficiently. The exhibition will focus on the following question: What solutions will enable the shipping industry to meet the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) zero emission targets? As we move toward a decarbonized future, partnerships and collaboration play an important role.

“For an emission-free and digitalized future of shipping, all stakeholders must work together, exchange ideas and learn from each other,” explains Rolf Stiefel, Regional Chief Executive Central Europe at Bureau Veritas M&O Germany. “We support our customers in ensuring the safety of ships and crews and in developing long-term decarbonization solutions together with technology pioneers.”

“This partnership promise is also apparent in the new digital project management application MOVE, the classification society states. For its development, Bureau Veritas not only asked its customers in advance which aspects would optimally support their workflows, but also consulted them during the implementation of the test versions and took their specific feedback into account. Partnerships and collaborations, as well as digitalization and AI, are playing an increasingly important role. For this reason, Bureau Veritas M&O is working with the US software specialist OrbitMI, whose cloud-based software enables ship owners to work more efficiently and sustainably.

Visitors can experience “MOVE” and the range of services on offer at the trade fair stand in Hall B3, Stand 103. Furthermore, on September 3, Rolf Stiefel will take part in the Maritime Platform panel discussion, whilst on September 4, Bureau Veritas renewable energy expert Aude Leblanc from the Paris headquarters will take part in the Windship Day scientific session.

Founded in 1828, the Bureau Veritas Group today employs more than 80,000 people in over 1,600 offices and laboratories worldwide. Bureau Veritas is listed on the Euronext Paris stock exchange and is included in the Next 20 Index.
