Bremen increases fees at the ports

The port authority in Bremen is raising the fees for berthing times, waste disposal and pilotage services. This is intended to generate more money for port maintenance.

The fee for mooring at the quay will rise by 9%. This means around €3.6m in additional revenue, according to reports. The basic fee for the disposal of ship waste will increase by 3%. And the services of the pilots in the ports of Bremen will become more than 6% more expensive.

Bremen had already increased berthing fees by 6.5% at the beginning of this year. According to the information provided, a significant proportion of the income from berthing times is used for the upkeep and maintenance of the ports. The Deputation for Economics and Ports still has to approve the higher fees from next year.

At the end of last year, the states of Lower Saxony and Hamburg also increased port fees at the end of 2022.
