The German propulsion specialist Schottel and the Polish company Bota Technik have entered into a cooperation agreement for after-sales service and new system sales.
The agreement comes into force on 1 January 2025. Bota will take over the sale of new systems in Poland from P.H.U. Afra, which has performed this function since 2005.
Bota Technik, based in Gdansk, specialises in technical service and after-sales service for marine propulsion systems. Its experience and services cover all components of ship propulsion systems, from engines to gearboxes, shafts and propellers.
Bota scores with its strategic location
The company’s operating facilities are located in the maritime cluster of the Bay of Gdansk on the Baltic Sea. “Thanks to the service agreement with Bota, we can now offer our Polish customers short transportation routes for overhauls and workshop work. Bota has access to both Schottel-trained employees and direct OEM support,” explains Michael Sabel, Head of Field Service and Repair at Schottel.
“This partnership is an important milestone for us and opens up new opportunities for our customers,” says Andrzej Kaźmierczak, Sales and Marketing Director at Bota. “As an authorised Schottel partner, we are very keen to improve the quality of the services we offer and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.”
Poland “very important market” for Schottel
The Spayer propulsion manufacturer has been active in the Polish market for many decades and has equipped ships of all kinds. The “highly qualified” Polish shipyards are particularly strong in the construction of ferries, tugs and naval vessels for the global maritime market, according to the company.
The cooperation with P.H.U. Afra as a representative began in 2005. “Poland is a very important market for Schottel. We would therefore like to thank Andrzej Frankowski for the long and trusting cooperation and wish him all the best for his new chapter in life,” says Roland Schwandt, Deputy Managing Director of Schottel.
