The Spanish shipping company Baleària has successfully completed the final docking tests for the fast ferry “Avemar Dos”.
The ship will operate between the ports of Tarifa and Tangier on the Strait of Gibraltar from May. It can carry 900 passengers at a speed of 34 knots.
The 82 m long RoPax catamaran was recently extensively renovated and will offer passengers more space and comfort in future. The “Avemar Dos” was built in 1997 and the final preparations for the planned deployment of the ship on the Tarifa-Tangier route have been completed with the test dockings in Tarifa in southern Spain. According to the shipping company, there will initially be four daily connections across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco. The frequency is to be gradually increased over the course of the summer season, with departures “from early morning until late at night”.
